Our son (13) has been home with us for 3 years, and has told me repeatedly how the older kids at the baby home truly felt like they would not be chosen. Quite simply, they saw the younger ones being chosen first and knew the drill. The thought of ANY of my kids not being "picked" for something- even something like a kickball team on the playground- breaks my heart. How much more devastating to think you won't be "picked" for something as basic and fundamental a need as a FAMILY? God has affirmed again and again our decision to adopt an older child. We have no baby pictures of him, no idea when he took his first steps or got teeth, or how/when he was potty trained. We have had our firsts, though. Many, many firsts. And they continue. I will always advocate for older kids and be so thankful that by God's grace we didn't miss out. :)Cyndihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02996142223603931368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6345188536810312873.post-1017626642211967892012-02-20T12:45:25.305-06:002012-02-20T12:45:25.305-06:00So excited for you and your family! When we first ...So excited for you and your family! When we first decided to adopt I have to admit, I thought the younger the child was, the easier it would be. How untrue and selfish of me! We are now finishing up the process to adopt a 9 year old and cannot imagine it any other way! Our hearts too have been changed and we are now huge older child advocates!!! We will continue to pray for you!!!Lyndseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07193635923666580077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6345188536810312873.post-53215455010585574812012-02-20T12:34:02.008-06:002012-02-20T12:34:02.008-06:00Joely, We are so excited for you.Joely, We are so excited for you.Kristahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11795022824857389438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6345188536810312873.post-15669973236191420932012-02-20T12:19:22.040-06:002012-02-20T12:19:22.040-06:00Good for you guys for following what the Lord is l...Good for you guys for following what the Lord is leading you to!
